Today is market day in Sainte Cécile Les Vignes. We took full advantage of our ability to walk to town from our villa in the vineyard. First things first. A “petit déjeuner en ville,” (breakfast in town) then some shopping. More fruit, vegetables, and the girls found hats and linen dresses. We bought a roasted farm chicken, grilled potatoes, and some fresh grilled vegetables from le boucherie chez Georges. These weekly markets are incredible for their content. You can find everything here from food items to clothing to shoes to meats and sausages of every sort. We bought some fresh pasta: ravioli filled with mushrooms and some filled with cheese and herbs. A beautiful pesto to accompany and some lovely red wines from Carianne, the next village over. The French know how to live. We finish with a local blond beer enjoyed on an outdoor patio before we retreat to our villa for a light lunch....and more rosé wine. La vie en rose!

When you shop in the market and can’t carry your belongings home what do you need? A straw basket or panier (comme on dit en francais).
