December 9 - Playa Cativo 🇨🇷

A day at complete leisure. How decadent to sleep in, watch the monkeys play in the trees off our balcony in the « tree house » with our first cup of Costa Rican coffee, then a beautiful laid back breakfast, a short hike, some book reading in the hammock, then lunch and an after-lunch hike to the waterfalls. It’s so great to have nowhere to go, nothing to do, but enjoy Pura Vida. The Costa Ricans have that expression to describe life at its best. Pura Vida translates to « Pure Life » but the meaning is so much deeper. It really describes the best that life can offer and on a day like today we totally get it. After the waterfall hike, the skies opened up and we felt the full force of a tropical rain shower. Only God knows how to do that one and while Kohler or Grohe may try to replicate a rain shower faucet in our bathrooms, they miss the mark! How to end the perfect day? A massage in the Lotus Spa with the stream running under the massage room! I bumped into an Agouti (adult-sized Guinea Pig) on my way to the spa and scared the daylights out of myself. Maybe this jungle living should be left to the well-initiated!
